Prem and Prana Pattern

Prem and Prana is the creation of Manisha Chauhan, a trained scientist, genetic counselor, and Ayurvedic lifestyle coach.

I’ve worked for 10 years with patients and their families as a genetic counselor, and 20 years in healthcare overall. That experience showed me how the system works and, more importantly, where it falls short. How often it treats symptoms but rarely asks the deeper questions. How’s your sleep? Your stress? What’s happening around you? What does your body actually need?

I’m also the child of immigrants. A third-generation Indian, born in the UK to parents raised in Kenya, with ancestral roots in Gujarat. I grew up with debilitating eczema and inherited the kind of intergenerational trauma that shows up in your body long before you understand it in your mind.

As a young adult, I helped run a not-for-profit holistic clinic in London, which deepened my belief that wellbeing should be accessible, community-driven, and genuinely supportive.

In 2023, I reached a crossroads. Life wasn’t panning out the way I’d imagined. My mum was visiting and asked what she could cook for me. I couldn’t even remember my favorite dishes. That’s when I knew something fundamental had shifted.

I started daily practices. Breathwork. Meditation. The rituals I’d grown up around but never fully understood. Then I delved into Ayurveda and understood it in a way I’d never seen it before, because I was practicing it myself.

That’s how Prem and Prana was born. Not from theory, but from the lived experience of coming back to myself through food, daily rhythm, and ancient wisdom that finally made sense.

  • 10 years as a genetic counselor working directly with patients and families

What makes this different

I’ve spent 10 years working with patients and their families as a genetic counselor. An integral part of my role was taking really complex concepts and breaking them down into something relatable. Something people could actually understand and use.

After 20 years in healthcare, I understand the system and its gaps. Where it helps and where it falls short.

People often find Ayurveda overwhelming. Overly prescriptive. Full of Sanskrit terms and rules that feel impossible to follow in real life.

I want to break things down and make Ayurveda relatable for you. Not simplified to the point of being useless, but accessible. Practical. Something you can actually do.
